With developments in aviation, we’ve seen some pretty incredible advances. We can travel to more places faster and for less money than ever before.
Hell, Virgin has even got the technology to take tourists to SPACE.
But there’s one thing that’s been sacrificed in the journey to get more people more places. And that appears to be comfort.
As The Sydney Morning Herald published on Sunday, airlines appear to be making plans to reduce (the already limited) seat space for passengers.
The newspaper spoke with Mathieu De Marchi – a consultant at an aviation research company – who indicated that limited legroom on flights is only going to get worse.
“It’s all a matter of squeezing as many passengers as they can,” De Marchi told the publication.
“It’s only going to get worse over the next decade.”
In other words: if you already feel like you need to fold your body in half to fit into a plane seat, you’ve got no hope of finding comfort in the near future.

According to the SMH, passengers have lost on average about 10 centimetres of space between economy seat rows in the last twenty years.
And while it sounds impossible, the plan is to squeeze us even closer together – assumedly in the hope of making more money.
In an article by The Telegraph UK, popular airlines were compared for their available legroom. At the time of publishing, March 2018, Virgin and Thomas Cook were among the airlines that offered the least legroom (approximately 74cm and 79cm between rows). Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Cathay Pacific were seen to be some of the best in this area, with between about 81cm and 86cm.
In any case, if you’re a taller traveller you best start getting your flying done while you can.
