After dropping the first Toy Story 4 teaser yesterday, featuring all our favourite characters and a very stressed out make-shift spork toy named ‘Forky’, Disney has followed up with another teaser to keep the hype coming.
The new teaser features beloved comedy duo Jordan Peele and Keegan Michael-Key, as Bunny and Ducky – two very excited, sentient toys. The carnival toys appear to have a meta-understanding of the existence of the Toy Story franchise, and they are super keen for the next instalment.
But somehow, they don’t seem to recognise Woody or Buzz, which perhaps implies that in the universe where toys are in fact sentient, AND the Toy Story franchise exists, there are Woody and Buzz toys made in the image of the movie’s heroes.
For fans of the duo, you might recognise that they are riffing off of the valet characters they play in their comedy sketch series, Key and Peele.
We’ll have to wait and see how Bunny and Ducky fit into the next Toy Story movie, but their excitement for the movie is a pretty accurate representation of all of us, now-adults, who have grown up with the franchise and will be the first to line up at cinemas June 20, 2019, to eat up whatever they’re throwing our way.
