Beyoncé's Fierce Nala Voice In This New Lion King Clip Has Us Feeling Like Destiny’s Children

Come for Beyoncé's voice, stay for Timon and Pumbaa.

The upcoming CGI adaptation of The Lion King is shaping up to be one of the year’s biggest events though it does come with a few small worries, like the hyper-realistic CGI animals robbing the characters of their emotions.

But it seems like we might be overreacting a little bit because Disney have dropped a new clip showcasing Beyoncé as Nala for the first time and it’s enough to wash away any doubts we may have about the film. Well most of them, the lip-synching still weirds me out a bit.

“Come home.”

Hearing Beyoncé’s soothing voice telling Simba he has to “come home” to take his rightful place as king is pure bliss and it demonstrates just why she is the queen of everything right now.

It’s not just Beyoncé who is bringing out all the big guns for The Lion King as Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen also kill it in their brief few seconds as Timon and Pumbaa.

Look, I won’t make you wait any longer, just watch it right here.

You may have several thoughts – some of which may be disturbingly thirsty – about The Lion King but there’s no denying that it has assembled a top-tier voice cast. Hey, when you remake one of the greatest animated films of all time, you might as well go all in by casting the biggest stars on this green(ish) earth.

And just to throw a little tantalising thought into the discussion, the movie will almost certainly have a new version of ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight?’ that features Donald Glover and Beyoncé singing to each other.

Now that alone is worth the price of admission. July 19. Save the date.

There's A Very Disturbing Thirst Arising From Disney's Live-Action Lion King

Oh internet, you've done it again.

The internet can be a very weird place filled with some odd things, most of which involve people thirsting over the strangest things like sexy female Bowser and the first pic of a black hole.

Well folks, Disney’s upcoming hyper-realistic remake of The Lion King has officially become the latest thirst trap for some areas of the internet and the reactions have been pretty disturbing to say the least.

After a bunch of character posters were released of the main characters, people were impressed at how realistic all the animals were. But for some folks, they weren’t too keen on the new Lion King because real-looking lions just ain’t as bone-worthy as cartoon lions.

Here we are debating over whether Pumbaa looks awesome or the stuff of nightmares (i.e like a real warthog) and there’s the internet furry community having some serious talks over whether the new Lion King gets their juices flowing or not.

While some horny folks aren’t exactly enamoured with the new Nat Geo-chic look that Simba and his cohort are rocking, others are a bit more open-minded about it and are willing to take the plunge, so to speak.

I don’t exactly have a dog in this race of whether hyper-realistic or cartoon Scar gets the loins stirring so I’m in no position to comment or really judge but it is fascinating to see something like this come up from time to time.

One thing’s for sure, we can probably expect this argument over whether the animated animals or the realistic CGI animals are more bone-worthy to only escalate over the next few months in the lead up to The Lion King‘s July 19 release date. The internet is truly a fascinating place.

The Surest Sign That The Lion King Remake Is Gonna Be Good Is This Actual Real-Life Monkey Presenting Its Baby To The Heavens Like Simba

It's the ciiiicle of liiiife. And it moves us allllll.

1994’s The Lion King is one of my all-time favourite films ever and a cornerstone of many people’s childhood, and there is just no way that the upcoming CGI remake can capture the original’s magic. Well, it appears that my doubt has been a bit premature because we’ve all been given what I believe is the surest sign that the movie will be good.

Photographer Dafna Ben Nun was in Zimbabwe recently, where she managed to snap a photograph of a monkey lifting its baby to the heavens in a perfect recreation of the opening scene of The Lion King where Rafiki presents Simba to the kingdom.

Because of reasons, you’ll have to see the photo here, but just imagine this scene below with real monkeys.

There’s life imitating art and then there’s this little nugget of gold that I can only describe as a sign from the divine heavens or something.

I’m making this admittedly tenuous link because I just desperately want The Lion King remake to be good since Disney were always going to do the project at some point regardless of how we all felt.

Real-life monkeys imitating Rafiki and Simba aside, the signs are looking pretty promising that the movie will at least be decent.

It is being directed by Jon Favreau, who directed the brilliant live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book; it’s got Donald Glover and Beyonce as SImba and Nala respectively, which is just awesome; and the rest of the voice cast is absolutely stacked with big names like James Earl Jones (reprising his role as Mufasa), Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Billy Eichner as Timon, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, and John Oliver as Zazu.

This may just be the manic ramblings of a Lion King fan who wants nothing more than the CGI remake to be good while also wanting to write about monkeys recreating an iconic scene from the movie, but if the next thing we get is a meerkat and warthog hanging out like Timon and Pumbaa…

Okay, there’s no way The Lion King remake won’t be a masterpiece and July 2019 can’t come soon enough.
