Handmaid’s Tale Has Swapped Absolute Gloom For An Unexpected Dose Of Optimism In The Season 3 Trailer

It's about time.

The Handmaid’s Tale has a reputation for being the kind of TV show you might have to give up on because it’s too much voluntary emotional trauma to feel worth it.

For two seasons it has seemed as if there will never be any reprieve for the oppressed league of women who are igniting the fire of revolution in the patriarchal dystopia they live in. June (Elizabeth Moss) and Emily/Ofglen (Alexis Bledel) have been pounded down at every turn.

So it’s a genuine surprise to see actual glimmers of hope in the trailer for the upcoming third season of The Handmaid’s Tale.

“Heresy, that’s what you get punished for,” June says.

“Not for being part of the resistance, because officially, there is no resistance. Not for helping people escape, because officially, there’s no such thing as escape.”

It looks like we will see June and the people of the revolution actually gain some ground in season three. Even Serena Joy is forming an alliance with June and getting involved. This is some welcomed optimism that should make watching the show a lot more pleasant.
