It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

Jameela Jamil Just Teased A Good Place/Brooklyn 99 Crossover, But There's A Catch

Holy fork.

Today on the Internet, we’ve been treated to a sexy little nugget of information from absolute angel Jameela Jamil.

The actor and activist (please go and follow her body positivity account @i_weigh) caused absolute chaos with one casual Instagram post today, and well… we can understand why.

Jamil shared a photo while en route to Comic-Con – in a private jet, no less – with some of the cast of Brooklyn 99. In the caption she wrote:

“First time on a private jet, and it was a Brooklyn 99/Good Place crossover.”

With the context of the appearance in mind, it makes sense that Jamil is referring to the plane trip when she mentions the crossover. But regardless, some fans have taken the caption as a hint that a *literal* crossover is on the cards for the shows.

“OMFG yessss I’m here for it,” wrote one fan.

“My two favorite shows. This is the Golden age of television,” shared another.

“That crossover is a need,” wrote a third.

The concept isn’t ridiculous – they’re both Mike Schur productions, after all. And there’s been plenty of speculation that the two series exist within the same universe.

The issue at hand, however, is that Schur (writer and creator of both shows) explicitly stated that The Good Place will never crossover with any other show.

Sorry, folks.

Not today. Not ever, kids.

During a previous press tour for the Television Critics Association, Schur told media that:

“I want to make this very clear, that [a series crossover] will never happen — end of story.

“I’m like literally drawing a shower curtain between the universe and that idea.”

He went on to tell The Wrap that any Easter eggs you might find in The Good Place are just threaded in there for fun.

“Part of the fun of doing the show has been just for literally no reason to drop Parks and Rec Easter eggs into The Good Place,” he told the outlet.

“And we’ve done it like, I don’t know, a dozen times. And that was a total coincidence, that was for an episode of The Good Place where all the animals were walking around. We decided just for old times’ sake to get Li’l Sebastian back.”

“…I like the idea that Li’l Sebastian is floating around in heaven somewhere and being attended to by Janet, that’s a nice thought to have. But it’s not a crossover.”

So, it looks like a plane ride is the only kind of series crossover we’ll be getting. But hey, the content was pretty entertaining.
