It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

There's An Easter Egg In The Division 2 That Reveals What The Next Assassin's Creed Game Will Be

Blink and you'll definitely miss this hidden little secret teaser.

Ubisoft’s recently-released The Division 2 boasts one of the most detailed open worlds we’ve seen in a video game in recent memory and it ranks up there with Red Dead Redemption 2 in terms of detail and size.

But hidden amongst this post-apocalyptic depiction of Washington DC isn’t just ruined buildings, rogue gangs, and random suitcases filled with literal nuts and bolts.

Hidden amongst the rubble and suspiciously large number of abandoned backpacks in The Division 2 is little Easter Egg that casually reveals the setting of the next Assassin’s Creed game.

Whoa, tone down on the Assassin’s Creed enthusiasm there.

First discovered by YouTuber JorRaptor, if you were to wander around to the Potomac Event Center in the game, you’ll find a bunch of posters of a Norse god or soldier of some sort and the word “Valhalla” written at the top.

But the interesting part of this little tease is in apple in the Norse chap’s right hand. You see, that’s not just any regular old apple, it happens to be the Apple of Eden which is a super-important Assassin’s Creed MacGuffin that pops up every now and again to remind you about the convoluted plot.

This tells us one very important detail about the next Assassin’s Creed game: there’s going to be Vikings, Norse mythology, and Thor riding around on his hammer like a bucking bronco.

Vikings and Norse mythology for Assassin’s Creed? Hell yes.

Now this could simply be nothing more than just an in-game poster that we’ve all read far too much into but Kotaku have independently confirmed the Viking setting for the next Assassin’s Creed game, which is good enough for us to tag this with a “let’s just assume it is true until we’re told otherwise” sticker.

Having said that, don’t expect to see the next Assassin’s Creed game, codenamed Kingdom as reported by Kotaku, anytime soon as Ubisoft has previously confirmed that it will be coming out in 2020 at the earliest. With rumours going around that the game would have an ancient Rome setting given how that last two titles were set in ancient Egypt and ancient Greece, the Norse mythology setting is a bit of a surprise that’s come out from nowhere.

But seeing as how great the previous two Assassin’s Creed games were, Ubisoft can take all the time they need to polish up their Viking follow-up. All I ask is more random goofy stuff that was found in 2018’s Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey.

If I can hang off the schlong of a giant Odin or Thor statue, much like what I did with the giant Zeus statue in Odyssey, then Ubisoft can take all my money right now.
