The First On Set Photos Of The Crown's Princess Diana Are Eerily On Point

They could be twins!

While we have yet to see Olivia Colman take over the role of Queen Elizabeth II in season three of The Crown, we’re already getting a little sneak peek into what Princess Diana will look like in season four.

Netflix announced in April that Emma Corrin will be playing the role of Princess Diana in season four of the show. And now that we’ve seen Corrin in costume reenacting Diana’s 1983 tour of Australia we’re even more keen for the show’s return.

Corrin was joined by Josh O’Connor, who is playing Prince Charles, in Malaga, Spain for the scene and the pair look so much like Charles and Diana it’s crazy.

If only they’d actually shot the scenes in Australia!

When the news was first announced that Corrin had been cast in the role she took to Instagram to share her excitement, writing, “I have been glued to the show and to think I’m now joining this incredibly talented acting family is surreal.

“Princess Diana was an icon and her effect on the world remains profound and inspiring. To explore her through Peter Morgan’s writing is the most exceptional opportunity and I will strive to do her justice!”

She added that she was “overjoyed, over the moon and incredibly honoured”.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Corrin said, “When you are reading about Diana, you want to sift all the bulls**t from the truth,” adding that production sent her biographies and footage to study, as well as putting her in touch with people who knew Diana.

Funnily enough, the actress doesn’t see any kind of resemblance between her and Diana.

“My mum has been told that she looks like Diana. She often has been mistaken for her throughout her life, which is a really weird connection,” she said. “But I have never had that. I get young Jodie Foster.”

She totally does.

Corrin also revealed that when she auditioned for the role she was offered the part straight away, “They actually offered me the part in the room… It felt like I had just been proposed to.”

The Crown returns to Netflix on November 17.
