Judith Lucy Would Literally Bulldoze Glass Ceilings As The Bachelorette

This needs to happen.

Each year, The Bachelor and The Bachelorette attract hundreds of thousands of viewers, but let’s be honest – each year, the formula is essentially the same. One hot young guy or one hot young gal searching for love amongst a bunch young hot contestants.

It’s a tried and tested method for success, but it does get a bit repetitive. It’s clearly a sentiment shared by thousands of Aussies, who have signed a petition to make comedy legend Judith Lucy the next Bachelorette.

The petition was created by fellow comedian Nelly Thomas and states “as a single woman over the age of 30, Judith would be a relatable – but revolutionary – presence on a television dating show.”

“Time to get this woman back in the game with some quality Aussie blokes. They’ll be lining up – and at their age they’re probably not ever trawling for Insta followers!”

Thomas also noted that the idea “was first heard from a talk-back caller talking Virginia Trioli on ABC Radio.”

The petition was launched on Change.org just one day ago and it already has over 6,300 signatures and plenty of support on social media. One Twitter user wrote, “it’s time Australia got over its fright of women older than 33,” and another commented on the petition page, “I’m tired of seeing Eastern Suburbs clones. Let’s have some age diversity, more POCs, people with disabilities, body shape diversity! More real people please.”

Not only would Lucy be a breath of fresh air to The Bachelorette franchise, but there is no doubt this feisty, feminist, sex positive comedian would smash all the glass ceilings while on the show, not to mention make us cry with laughter with each episode.

As for Judith Lucy’s response to all the Bachie love? Thomas says, “Judith is utterly bemused by this petition and has no idea what is going on, but she has given it the green light.”

If it were up to us, Judith would be a shoo-in! Osher, balls in your court buddy.
