Stranger Things' David Harbour Says That Hopper and Joyce Are Built For Each Other, And We Can't Agree More If We Tried

Even the way Harbour describes their relationship makes him out to be an overly invested fan, and I'm here for it.

Sometimes, fans of a material or franchise get to work on the thing they grew up adoring. Sometimes, someone working on said material becomes a fan themselves.

But sometimes, you end up with people like David Harbour, AKA Hopper from Stranger Things, who is such a huge fan he starts engineering the show to fit his own fan theories.

Specifically, it sounds like Harbour really really wants Hopper and Joyce to finally have a romantic relationship.

love!

In an interview with Variety, Harbour discussed several aspects of the upcoming third season of the Netflix show. As well as alluding to the Hawkins’ Kids facing puberty (shock! horror!), he made it clear that he’s hoping for Jim Hopper and Joyce Byers (played by Winona Ryder) to finally hook up, especially now that Bob is out of the picture (Sidenote: #JusticeForBob).

“I think [Joyce and Hopper are] built for each other and I would love to see them get together… From the very beginning, I thought that these are two tortured, messed up, beautiful people who are like puzzle pieces that can’t stand each other but actually need each other.”

Firstly, how cute is it that he ships Joyce and Hopper! Secondly, the poetic metaphor of “puzzle pieces that can’t stand each other” is definitely something I read in a fanfic during high school.

It remains to be seen if this actually will result in love in season three, seeing as that’s more The Duffer Brothers’ job than David’s. But still, the hope for the two good adults to find happiness is there! Ahhh!
