Mark Hamill Finally Answers The Most Burning Question About Luke Skywalker's Backstory

The rise of Skywalker.

For all some of you hilarious nerds love putting “Jedi” down as your religion every census, there’s one tenet of the Jedi Order’s lore you’re probably not keen on sticking to:

No sex. (Well, it’s murky, but they’re definitely not supposed to form deep emotional bonds like love, and sex can definitely make you catch the feels. So, frowned upon.)

As we all know, Anakin Skywalker broke that rule, giving us the Skywalker twins Luke and Leia, and teaching us that if you look like Hayden Christensen it doesn’t matter how bad your pickup lines are.

And while Leia wasn’t technically a Jedi, she can (could? sob) use the Force, as we now know – and she and Han obviously got down, because now we have Kylo Ren (and the accompanying Ren/Rey sexual tension).

But there are a lot of questions about what the other Skywalker Jr got up to during all the years he wasn’t on our screens.

Specifically: did he ever get laid?

All we knew for a long time was that the period between the end of Return Of The Jedi and when Rey finds him on his lonely island at the end of The Force Awakens was pretty rough on poor Luke.

There’s no specific canon reference to Luke having any kind of romance (a whole love story and new family he had with a character called Mara Jade in the Extended Universe books has sadly now been negated by the latest trilogy).

However, you should know that Mark Hamill performed every one of Luke’s scenes in The Last Jedi as a man who, yes, has boned at least once.

Hamill has had his own issues with how the character’s developed in the final chapters of the saga, but especially given his complicated relationship with the Jedi’s rules and regulations, I think we can accept this one is pretty plausible.

Who wants to ask him if he ever used that robotic right hand for saucy purposes?
