This Spider-Man: Far From Home Mid-Credits Scene Theory Changes Everything For The Next Movie

Mind = Blown!

Warning: Contains spoilers for Spider-Man: Far From Home.

I don’t know about you, but when I watched Spider-Man: Far From Home and the credits started rolling I was not prepared for what I was about to see.

In the mid-credit scene, a public video broadcast of Quentin Beck AKA Mysterio moments before his death shows him telling the world Spider-Man is responsible for the London attack that takes place at the end of the film and even reveals his true identity. J.K. Simmons also reprises his role as J. Jonah Jameson.

Obviously, this will have a huge impact on Peter Parker in the next film. Will he spend most of it trying to clear his name and prove he wasn’t the true culprit of the drone attack in London?

But what if it didn’t actually happen? That’s what one theory is suggesting and we seriously hope it’s true.

When Spidey defeated Mysterio we saw his assistant William take a memory drive from the EDITH control centre which is obviously how the video was spread following Beck’s death.

But what if the whole situation was an illusion similarly to the fake bar scene earlier in the film when Peter gives Quentin the EDITH glasses? That’s what ScreenRant is suggesting.

Maybe Quentin gave William instructions on how to continue their work if he should die and then maybe he upgraded Mysterio’s illusion capabilities to the point where he could create a whole New York street.

There’s also the possibility that Mysterio is still alive, he’s a master of deception so maybe the video was part of an escape plan in case his original plan didn’t work out.

Mid-credit scenes don’t traditionally contain key pieces of information that the audience must watch in order to understand the next film. They’re normally comedic scenes or they might hint towards a future character’s appearance in the MCU.

Marvel has previously run into problems when they try to have post-credit scenes that lead into future movies. For example, in Captain Marvel there’s a scene where Carol Danvers meets the Avengers, but it was re-written in Avengers: Endgame which confused a lot of fans.

Given all of this, it would make sense if the Spidey scene was indeed some kind of illusion. If it was an illusion it also means that Mysterio is still a threat, whether that be with Quentin or the team he worked with.

There’s no date set for the third solo Spider-Man film so we’ll likely be waiting a while to find out what actually happened to him!
