Spider-Man's Return To The MCU Could Be A Hint The Next Avengers Movie Is On Its Way

It would make sense!

Much to the delight of Spider-Man fans around the world, Sony and Marvel have finally agreed to share the character once again and work together on a third solo movie and an as-yet-unconfirmed MCU film.

And the deal has us wondering: which MCU film will we see Peter Parker in? At this stage, he doesn’t seem to fit in with the MCU movies that have been announced for Phase 4, so that means it’ll likely be something after 2021 that hasn’t been announced.

Considering Spider-Man is possibly the most popular superhero in the world, it would be safe to say that Marvel will use him in a pretty big movie – they’ve previously used him in their biggest team-up films: Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

So, according to ScreenRant, it’s highly likely Marvel will use him in the unconfirmed Avengers 5.

At this stage, Marvel has yet to announce another Avengers movie that will bring their tentpole characters together, so it’s only a matter of time before one’s announced.

Kevin Feige has previously said that Marvel already knows what their Avengers roster looks like and it’ll include familiar and new characters.

ScreenRant suggests Marvel might reinvent the Avengers with a Young Avengers movie (featuring characters like Cassie Lang and Kate Bishop) and that way Spider-Man can be one of the more experienced heroes.

The other option would be for Peter to show up in the Fantastic Four movie, because a cameo by Tom Holland would certainly give that movie a boost and there’s actually a story from the comics that could help put that in motion.

In an interview with CinemaBlend (before the Marvel/Sony split), Feige indicated that the third Spider-Man movie will see Peter step “out of the shadow of Tony, out of the shadow of the other Avengers, as his own man now.”

“And yet now facing his own challenges that aren’t coming from Avengers fighting, like Civil War, or aliens coming, like Infinity War or Endgame. It’s all Peter focused and Peter based.”

It’ll be very interesting to see how Spider-Man 3 deals with the fact Peter’s identity has been revealed against his will and what that will mean for the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.

Reports Marvel Is Getting Ready To Write Spider-Man Out Of The MCU Following New Sony Deal

Since his first MCU appearance in Captain America: Civil War, fans have loved Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and were very excited to learn Marvel and Sony have come to a new agreement over the character’s next two films.

Under the new deal, Marvel and Sony will work together on another solo Spidey film and Holland will also appear in another MCU film. When the announcement was made, Kevin Feige – who worked on the first two Spider-Man films with Sony – indicated that Spider-Man would be able to cross over into other cinematic universes, including the one Sony is creating on their own.

Now, rumour has it that Feige is preparing to write Spider-Man out of the MCU in case the agreement between Marvel and Sony doesn’t get extended further.

THR reports that while it is possible the deal could be extended, many believe it’s actually part of Spider-Man’s MCU exit.

“Though both sides are hinting the pact could be extended again, Feige seems to be plotting an endgame that will wrap up Peter Parker’s story in the MCU and could see the character cross over into Sony’s own budding universe of characters that includes Venom and Morbius, with films centering on others in the works, including the dimension-spanning Madame Web.”

If this did happen, Sony would have full control over the character.

While it’s not confirmed by any means, it would make sense that Feige would close the door to Spidey in case the deal between Sony and Marvel once again fell through.

One of the things fans complained about the most when the deal broke down earlier this year was that Spider-Man: Far From Home wasn’t a natural ending for Peter Parker’s MCU journey.

ScreenRant suggests that Marvel might cut Spider-Man from the roster by having him accidentally transported to a new reality, so Sony could take over without Marvel.

At this stage, however, the deal is only a day old, and Spider-Man’s exit could be three or more years away and things between Sony and Marvel could change dramatically between now and then.

What we do know right now is that the next Spider-Man film is set for release on July 16, 2021.

Chris Evans Is Ready To Star In A New Huge Cinematic Universe And We Hope This Is True

This would be amazing!

Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige has done some amazing work with the MCU, bringing a whole heap of beloved comic book characters to life in live-action movies, but he’ll soon be turning his attention to the Star Wars universe – and Chris Evans wants to be part of it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Feige has a “major actor” in mind to star in his Star Wars films, with rumours that person is Captain Marvel star Brie Larson, but Captain America‘s Evans has volunteered himself for the job.

After hanging up his shield and passing the mantle of Captain America on to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, Avengers: Endgame marked Evans’ last appearance as Steve Rogers.

That means he’s got a lot more free time on his hands, and as a huge Star Wars fan, he’s making it known that he’s interested in a role in Feige’s next project.

And I don’t know about you, but any movie (or series of movies) that allows me to look at Chris Evans is a movie I want to watch.

Meanwhile, Brie Larson has taken to Instagram to stir the pot on the rumour she’s the person Feige has in mind for the project.
