It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

Marvel Didn't Even Trust The Stars Of 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' With That Post-Credits Twist

"It was a surprise to me."

The Spider-Man: Far From Home post-credits Skrull twist surprised cinema-goers earlier this year and it turns out that even the stars had no idea it was going to happen.

We didn’t think things could get much crazier after we saw the mid-credits scene where Peter Parker’s secret identity was revealed to the world.

But then, the movie brought back the shapeshifting Skrulls from Captain Marvel for the post-credit scene and revealed Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) weren’t actually there at all, but were Talos (Ben Mendolsohn) and his wife Soren (Sharon Blynn) in disguise.

The real Fury had been hiding out in an undisclosed location in space while Talos kept him updated with what was happening on Earth.

It was a lot.

And it turns out that not even Tom Holland or Cobie Smulders were informed of the scene.

According to ComicBook.Com, Tom was speaking at ACE Comic-Con when he revealed he didn’t know about the post-credit scene until he saw the film.

“I’m trying to think if I did know that. No, I don’t think I didn’t know,” he said.

Jake Gyllenhaal, however, admitted to knowing about the scene a month before the film was released, “There were pieces of it we knew.”

“I didn’t really, really know until about a month until the movie was released,” he added.

Tom joked, “Yeah, because there were those reshoots and I wasn’t invited to those reshoots because I got it right the first time.”

“You’re talking about the scene with the Skrulls? No, I don’t think I did. I like that scene.”

Smulders has previously revealed she had no idea about the twist and Marvel actually used footage that she and Jackson had originally filmed for the beginning of the film.

Speaking with THR, the actress revealed, “I don’t know when they thought of it. It was a surprise to me. I bumped into Kevin Feige at a party and he said, ‘I gotta tell you something about what’s happening.’ I was excited, but I was also confused.

“I asked, ‘Well, where is she? What’s she up to?’ You can use your own imagination to figure that out. It’s cool because it is the constant shifting of this world. I don’t know where they’re going to go with it, or if that’s a tease for what’s to come. I just love that it was another layer of the film that was going on, potentially the whole time.”

Because we don’t find out where Hill has been the whole time, some fans believe she’s been a Skrull since The Avengers, “They could change it to be that way, but in my mind — no,” she said. “I don’t know where she is, but my hope is that she’s on vacation somewhere. In this world, she’s probably just on some other mission.”

Maybe one day Marvel will trust Holland with a secret…
