It’s said that everyone has a soul mate. Some people never meet their soul mate, but they’re out there somewhere.
In my case, I have three: my boyfriend, Sophie Turner, and Jonathan Van Ness. Sophie and JVN don’t know they’re my soul mates, but I have faith they’ll find out one day.
And then we’ll live happily ever after in a perfect world filled with dogs, pasta, rainbows, and killer outfits.
It seems Sophie and Jonathan are also destined besties because they met at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) and the energy was electric.
Like all epic love stories, this one started with Sophie glimpsing JVN from across the room. Unable to contain her excitement (same girl, same) she squealed “Jonathan Van Ness” (it was more “Jonathan Van Neeeeeessss”) and ran up to him.
JVN, equally in shock (same girl, same), screamed and visibly died a little inside at meeting Sophie – he literally ran away before turning back around to give her a hug.
There were lots of “I love you”s and “oh my god”s exchanged between the pair and it’s a moment of pure wholesome joy. I hate that I wasn’t there. I also wish I could bottle their combined energy in a little vile to shoot down whenever I need a pick-me-up or a bit of extra courage. Seriously, both Sophie and Jonathan are such fun, empowering, inspiring people and I need their personal brand of positivity in my life.
The best part about this serendipitous meeting is that Sophie and JVN are huge fans of each other (JVN has his own Game of Thrones inspired web series) and make that very, very clear. It’s basically two minutes of them reaching full fangirl mode and it’s the best.
“I am obsessed with you,” Sophie gushes. “I love you!” Jonathan counters for the 50th time.
“WHY WON’T YOU BOTH LOVE ME,” I scream in my head.
One day, friends. One day the three of us will meet in a hallway while backstage at an awards show and realise we weren’t complete until that moment.
One day.
