This Sneak Peek Of Sonic The Hedgehogs's Potential Redesign Will Make You Very Happy

Much better!

Following the huge backlash earlier this year, the filmmakers behind the Sonic The Hedgehog movie decided they would redesign the character to fit in with the original look of Sonic from the video games.

The movie was originally meant to be released in November 2019, but it was delayed after the first trailer broke the Internet thanks to his human-looking teeth, eyes and legs.

Just a few days after the first trailer dropped, director Jeff Fowler took to Twitter to announce they would be doing a total character redesign.

(I feel bad for him considering just a few days earlier he was sharing how excited he was to share the first look of the movie with the world.)

Now, we’ve finally got our first sneak peek at the new redesigned version of the character, and it looks so much better.

The sneak peek comes from a photo of a movie standee at a cinema which is doing the rounds and making fans cautiously optimistic.

It’s a bit weird that the standee is just chilling out in the open before an official trailer has been released, so it’s unknown how official it is, but it does look pretty official?

Fans have shared their excitement for the redesign:

Terminator: Dark Fate director Tim Miller is executive producing Sonic The Hedgehog and recently told Variety he’s seen the new design and thinks “the fans will be pleased”.

He added that when the backlash began, he encouraged the team to admit their faults and go back to the drawing board with the character.

“Look, I was with fans and so was Jeff. When the shit hit the fan, I went over there and said, ‘The most important thing to do, man, is say I fucked up. He’d already sent a tweet out an hour before I got there. He’s a good man. It was exactly the right way to handle that. The fans have a voice in this too. There’s a right way to listen.”

It does make you wonder how the design got so far before they realised they made a mistake?

Sonic the Hedgehog is set for release in February, 2020.
