We’re a year away from when that live-action/CGI hybrid adaptation of Sonic The Hedgehog hits cinemas, so it’s a little early to judge whether it will be any good.
While video game film history states that the movie is going to suck harder than a wormhole, at least the blue blur will go down swinging because the titular hedgehog will be voiced by none other than Ben Schwartz, aka Jean-Ralphio Saperstein from Parks and Recreation.
I. LOVE. 90S. BLUE. ICONIC. CHARACTERS. I am beyond excited about this movie. It’s gonna be amazing. I have been training by running, wagging my finger and impatiently tapping my foot. GOTTA GO FAST! https://t.co/SOYqgnf3ym

Okay, you know what, I’ve already changed my mind about the Sonic movie.
Out of the many, many highlights stuffed in Parks and Recreation, Jean-Ralphio ranks at the very top. Whether he’s talking about his random antics, hitting on anything that moves, or just adding “-izzle” to the end of every word, the character is just a good sort to have around.
I mean, just imagine Sonic talking and acting like Jean-Ralphio. The movie would be an absolute riot if Schwartz brought just 50% of Jean-Ralphio over to the blue blur.
Hell, I’ll settle for Schwartz doing a “Because I gotta go FFAAAAAAAASST” once as Sonic.
But what I am most excited to see is the fireworks between Schwartz’s Sonic and Jim Carrey’s Doctor Ivo ‘Eggman’ Robotnik.
If Carrey brings his usual schtick to Eggman – which you know he will – and if Schwartz can sass up Sonic like Pawnee’s notorious wannabe player, I fear that the world may collapse into itself at the sheer amount of manic energy in one room.
Alright, I’m getting a bit too ahead of myself because Sonic The Hedgehog isn’t coming out until November 15, 2019, so who knows what the final movie will be like.
But if I were to have a guess at what the story will be, I think it revolve around Sonic starting up a media company with Tails and he’ll spend the whole movie running around yelling “GOTTA GROW FAAAAAAAAAAAAAST”.
