While Solo: A Star Wars Story was hardly a flop, it’s still been the greatest critical and commercial disappointment in the history of Star Wars films. Turns out that people weren’t ready to flock to the cinema to marvel at the sight of Han doing all the things that those who cared had already seen far better in their imaginations.
And so the next question is: do people want to inhabit a character who they’re already kinda sick of? If so, they’re in luck as the newest bunch of downloadable content for Battlefront II includes Han Solo With Fringe, Goggle Chewbacca and Donaldo Glovrissian!
Battlefront II, for it’s part, is one of the least loved games in the Star Wars universe – not least because it took one of the fan favourite franchises and reimagined it as a bog-standard multiplayer shooter that effectively forced players to buy their way to enough weapons to not immediately be killed, even after responding to fan outrage and changing their in-game upgrade system to be slightly less obviously mercenary.
Oh, and also because it responded to complaints about the lack of a single-player mission by including one which was dull to play and garbage as a piece of narrative fiction.
