Becoming A Full-Time Cheeseboard Influencer Is An Option Now, And Where Do I Apply?

Un-brie-lievable.

In probably the most 2019 thing to happen in 2019, I’ve today stumbled over the fact that you can now be a full-time “cheeseboard influencer”… if that’s where your passion lies.

While the concept of snapping food and posting the pictures on an Instagram account is hardly new, the ‘cheeseboard post’ appears to be the trend of the minute. It’s so popular, in fact, that there are people who have managed to make a full-time career out of it.

(This is where we are now. guys. People aren’t just food influencers; they’re influencers for specific types of platters.)

Would you just imagine that? Arranging platters of cheese and cold meats (while probably snacking on the leftovers) from nine to five, Monday to Friday?

What a damn dream.

As Refinery29 highlights, that’s the reality for Marissa Mullen, the woman behind @thatcheeseplate. Since launching the account she’s amassed over one hundred thousand followers and has kicked off two additional cheese-focussed Insta accounts.

She’s doing so well with her collection of cheese-obsessed profiles, in fact, that she left her former job to pursue life as a cheeseboard influencer full-time.

Speaking to the outlet, Mullen shared that she thinks the reason behind the growing popularity of cheeseboard snaps on Instagram *specifically* is a widely-felt desire to be more creative.

“Millennials strive for things that we can do tangibly… especially in New York, a lot of events and workshops are popping up that are more like ‘create this, use your hands, get off the screens,'” she told the website.

“Being able to have your friends over and create something with your hands that’s beautiful and exciting that you then can take a picture of, that’s been a big trend in the past year or so.”

While it’s a little amusing that millennials (I’m absolutely included in this group) are taking to their phones to find inspiration for activities that will get them off their phones, I think anyone who can turn cheeseboard curation into a full-time business is a stone-cold genius.

Low-key wish it was me.
