A customer shopping at UK department store Primark was shocked to find a human bone inside a pair of socks.
Essex Police said that the find did “not appear be a result of recent trauma and had no skin or other particles surrounding it”, which I’m sure is a great comfort to the person who found a human bone while shopping for foot-gloves.
The reports don’t mention whether it was a foot bone or not, perhaps one belonging to a previous owner who then returned the socks as they no longer needed them, because they were dead.
The retailer, one of the UK’s largest, said there was:
“No evidence of any kind exists to suggest that any incident has occurred in the factory, so it is highly probable that this object was placed in the socks by an individual for unknown reasons.”
They added that the chain has been the target of incidents in the past that were later revealed to be hoaxes. One example of such a hoax are ‘cry for help‘ labels that were found sewn into items of clothing found in a Welsh branch of the store in 2014.
It being a hoax would be incredibly anti-climactic. I’m sticking with my theory.
