While The Senate Was Dealing With Racism, The PM Was Doing A Borat Impression In Parliament

We're reached the "references to films from over a decade ago" period of Australian parliament.

Doff your cap, gentle reader, and pray hold a moment of silence for Borat references, which tragically died in the House of Representatives earlier today.

First seen in 2006 when unfunny people responded to things by talking about “my wife” being “very excite” because something is “very nice” in lieu of actual wit, doing nineth-rate impressions of Sacha Baron Cohen served us well for thirteen tiresome years.

Until today, that is, when Scott Morrison took to the floor of parliament and declared that Kazakhstan would be very pleased with Labor’s carbon credit trading scheme and think it was… well, just look at it.

Thank you for your service, Borat Quotes. You were taken… well, not too soon, obviously.

And the timing really wasn’t great seeing as though the Senate had condemned the racist rhetoric of senator Fraser Anning only hours before the PM decided now was the time for some zany accent comedy.

Honest to god, though, if this ends up being the thing that turns the government’s fortunes around and we start seriously talking about the “Borat Bump” then we need to agree to split up and join other countries.
