Never Forget: The World Still Can’t Decide If Rihanna’s Tattoo Is Messed Up Or Not

She's Rihanna so I guess it doesn't really matter.

back in 2010, beloved and holy musician gone businesswoman extraordinaire Rihanna debuted a tattoo that caused mostly confusion.

RiRi has plenty of tattoos, but this one is probably the most discussed.

On the side of her neck in cursive italics it simply says,

“rebelle fleur”

Basically, the dispute is over exactly what Rihanna was trying to say and whether this is the correct French translation. In French, the adjective typically follows the noun, so if she was intending to write rebellious flower, the words should be flipped.

However, apparently there was a counter from RiRi herself in a text message to her tattoo artist that was leaked to OK. The singer allegedly wrote,

“rebelle fleur translates to rebel flower, NOT rebelious flower, its 2 nouns so in that case fleur does not HAVE to be first! Fyi, cuz they will ask.”

It seems legit, but then again, when you Google translate rebel flower, you get fleur rebelle. So who knows at this point!

The important thing is that Rihanna likes it, and Rihanna is Rihanna so she can do whatever she wants and pull it right off.

(Though I do think it should probably have been ‘fleur rebelle’, but nevermind.)
