Billie Eilish Wants You To Rethink Your Outrage Over Drake’s Texts

"Everybody's so sensitive."

Last year, Billie Eilish sent her social media fans into a tailspin when the 18-year-old revealed that she texts with 33-year-old rapper Drake.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, she said, “Drake is, like, the nicest dude I’ve ever spoken to.”

“I mean, I’ve only, like, texted him, but he’s so nice. Like, he does not need to be nice, you know what I mean?”

Fans were quick to point out how “weird” Eilish and Drake’s friendship was considering their age gap, and many called Drake “creepy” for talking to the much younger singer, considering the backlash he received in 2018 when 15-year-old Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown revealed he had also been texting her.

Fast-forward to 2020 and Eilish reckons we all need to calm down. In a recent interview with Vogue, Eilish defended Drake texting her and said there are other people the Internet should be worried about.

“The Internet is such a stupid-ass mess right now,” she said. “Everbody’s so sensitive. A grown man can’t be a fan of an artist?”

“There are so many people that the Internet should be more worried about,” she said. “Like, you’re really going to say that Drake is creepy because he’s a fan of mine, and then you’re going to say that Drake is creepy because he’s a fan of mine, and then you’re going to go vote for Trump? What the f*ck is that sh*t?”

When Millie Bobby Brown faced similar questions about her relationship with Drake, she also defended the rapper. In September 2018, she took to her Instagram stories to set the record straight on her “lovely” bond with Drake.

“Why you gotta make a lovely friendship your headline?” she wrote. “You guys are weird…For real.”

“I’m very blessed to have amazing people in my life,” Brown said. “You don’t get to choose that for me.”

Brown has a point – I’m sure there’s plenty that Drake, Millie Bobby Brown and Billie Eilish have to talk about considering they all live their lives in the limelight. However, there’s no denying it’s opened up a whole can of worms, and started an important conversation about problematic relationships in Hollywood.
