If you were a fan of the 2011 French film The Intouchables, you were probably quite shocked to hear Hollywood was doing a remake of the movie with Kevin Hart and Bryan Cranston.
I haven’t seen their version, which was renamed to The Upside, and I’m not saying I’m not a fan of Kevin Hart’s work (I actually quite enjoyed Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), all I’m saying is why does Hollywood keep trying to recreate movies that are already great?
Now, Hart is reportedly working on yet another remake, this time Bill Murray’s cult classic Scrooged. Which, technically is already a remake of A Christmas Carol, so there’s no real need to redo it.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hart has teamed up with Paramount to produce and potentially star in the film, which at this point doesn’t have a writer. So, it’s still in the ideas phase.
Fans don’t seem all that impressed with the idea, with many taking to Twitter to share their thoughts:
#FTN I genuinely love @KevinHart4real but a #Scrooged remake can get stuffed! pic.twitter.com/0GvU0Sg3VT

Me: Remakes don't erase originals and it's silly to get mad about them.
Hollywood: Sounds good. Oh, btw, Kevin Hart's gonna remake SCROOGED.

Should the studio actually make the film it’ll be interesting to see how much of a success it is as it’ll no doubt target a new audience who hasn’t seen the original before.
It could totally end up being a success, stranger things have happened, so we’ll keep an open mind. But seriously, it would be great if we could give it a rest with the reboots for a while…
