The new Once Upon A Time In Hollywood poster of Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio caused a lot of buzz the other day, but expect all that chatter about the film to grow exponentially because the official teaser trailer is out and there’s so much to dissect in Quentin Tarantino’s ninth flick.
Set in Tarantino’s take on 1969 Hollywood and revolving around Leo and Brad’s characters as they try to break into the film industry, Hollywood appears to be one of Tarantino’s most stylish and funniest movies in years.
It also looks like the film will be stuffed full of great little moments from all the characters, such as Margot Robbie dancing around and pulling off a pitch-perfect take on Sharon Tate:

There’s Aussie actor Damon Herriman saying “g’day” as the creepy cult leader Charles Manson and somehow managing to be likable, which I guess is exactly what Manson was like in real-life.
Helter Skelter, mate.
We also can’t forget about Leo, who gets a great moment where a young girl tells his character that he just performed “the best acting” she had ever seen.
I feel like we’ve all said that a lot when watching Leo’s films over the years and will be saying that again for Hollywood.
You all heard her, just give Leo his second Oscar now.
And we must give many props to Mike Moh for his bang on take on the Bruce Lee. From the mannerisms, physicality, and speaking pattern, Moh absolutely nailed everything.
But the pièce de résistance of the trailer is the brief glimpse of a fight scene between Lee and Brad’s character, who somehow manages to hold is own against the late martial artist.
Astounding fight choreography aside, are we really meant to believe that Brad can truly hold his own in a fight against Lee? Tarantino appears to think so.
You really think Brad Pitt could actually hold his own against Bruce Lee?
But let’s not get wound up over Lee appearing to lose to Brad in a fight here.
Since there’s no context to their scuffle, it’s most likely that Lee is simply teaching Brad’s character some action choreography or working on a fight scene for a film, which is something Lee actually did on movies during his Hollywood days.
But then again, this is Tarantino we’re talking about and he’s played it loose with real-life history in his films before. I wouldn’t be surprised if the film ends with Lee ends up hunting down Manson after his creepy cult murders poor Sharon.
You can probably tell that I’m super excited for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood when it comes out in Aussie cinemas on August 15. In the meantime, I’m going to rewatch the trailer over and over again, and I suggest you take a gander as well.
