Queer Eye's Antoni Doesn't Like To Be Labelled As Gay As It 'Dishonours' Women He's Been With

"I’ve been with more women than men."

In a new interview with GQ Magazine, Queer Eye star Antoni Porowski has revealed he prefers not to label his sexuality, though “fluid” or “queer” come close.

The reality star explained how the Fab Five have helped him “get to a place where I’m a lot more comfortable in my skin”.

Speaking of his sexuality he said, “I don’t really know and I kind of like not knowing.”

Porowski also added that while he’s been dating men for several years, he’s actually been in more relationships with women and he wants to be sensitive to both.

“I feel like if I do refer to myself as gay, which would make it easier for people to understand sometimes, I feel like it dishonours women that I’ve been in love with,” he explained.

Earlier this year, he also appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and Real Housewives of New York’s Sonja Morgan asked him if it was “embarrassing” when women try to hit on him because he then has to tell them he “[plays] for the other team”.

Antoni (with a lot more grace than Morgan) responded, “I’ve been with more women than men. I sort of never really had a traditional coming out.

“I dated a man and then I dated women for several years and then I was in a relationship with a man.”

He also revealed on the show that he and his former boyfriend Trace Lenhoff first got together after sliding into each other’s DMs on Instagram.

Porowski also told GQ that he was terrified to go on Queer Eye, “Part of me didn’t want to go [on the show]. I was thinking, ‘I’m not gay enough. I’m not enough of a chef. I’m not all of these things.’”

He added that he found it very odd to be labelled as a “sex symbol” since the show first aired, “I did not think that I was going to be objectified as a 34-year-old male, that usually happens for guys in their twenties.”

The reality star explained that he thinks of that part of him as a character or performance art and plays into it on his Instagram account where he poses in underwear and shows off his abs. “I think it’s a reminder to enjoy myself in the process, because I take myself really seriously,” he says.

Well, we certainly like this character of his!
