It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

Please Enjoy The Voice Of Marc Martel AKA Rami Malek’s Singing-Voice Double For Bohemian Rhapsody

If you close your eyes, you could almost fool yourself into thinking it's Freddie Mercury himself.

We already know that Mr Robot star Rami Malek is set to play Freddie Mercury in the much-anticipated biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. And while all signs point to him definitely looking and acting the part, he hasn’t been given the task of handling Freddie’s iconic falsetto.

Which is probably for the best, lest we end up with another Emma Watson-trying-and-failing-to-sing-in-Beauty-And-The-Beast situation.

I’m sorry Hermione, but you really needed more vocal training.

In which case, meet Marc Martel. He’s the man who has been given the unique role of “singing voice double” for Rami Malek. And make no mistake: He may look like the lead singer of a Smash Mouth cover band, but if you close your eyes, you could almost fool yourself into believing you’re listening to the real thing.

Just listen to Marc tackle ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. It’s scary how good he is.

Martel’s singing chops recently made waves on Reddit, where his uncanny vocal style made it all the way to the front page. In a video where he breaks down his so-good-it’s-kinda-creepy Freddie Mercury impression, he credits a mixture of genetics and understanding the emotions behind each song.

There’s a tonne of his performances on YouTube, mostly with his Queen cover band. But my pick has to be his performance of ‘Somebody To Love’ which drives living legend and recent visitor to our shores Celine Dion to tears. Tears.

If this is what we can expect from Bohemian Rhasophy in November, I’m happy to say that Freddie’s music is in good hands.
