It’s beating a dead horse at this point to call Trump an idiot, especially with his piss-poor response to the COVID-19 pandemic. But just as you think the U.S. Cheeto-In-Chief can’t bungle things up more than he already has, Trump has somehow managed to lower expectations further by telling the world of his new plan to cure COVID-19: inject disinfectant into people (among other things).
Speaking of ridiculous COVID-19 cures and advice Trump would 100 percent endorse, the GOAT team debunk all the big coronavirus conspiracies going around on ‘It’s Been A Big Day For…’ below:
This latest piece of Trump “advice” took place during his daily propaganda speeches to his cult White House press briefing on the government’s COVID-19 response.
According to NBC News, Bill Bryan, who heads up the Department of Homeland Security’s science and technology division, gave a presentation on how COVID-19 doesn’t like warmer and more humid temperatures, saying “the virus dies quickest in the sunlight.”
Being the idiot hanger-on he is, Trump took that last bit and ran with it by suggesting that people with COVID-19 be bombarded by UV light:
“So supposing we hit the body with a tremendous — whether it’s ultraviolet or just a very powerful light — and I think you said that hasn’t been checked because of the testing.
“And then I said, supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or some other way, and I think you said you’re going to test that, too.”
But that was a precursor to the next phase of Trump’s new made-up-on-the-spot COVID-19 cure plan. Feeling like he was on a roll with his UV light idea, Trump then suggested that people with COVID-19 should be injected with disinfectant because that stuff kills the virus, thus it makes logical sense to pump those infected with the disease full of it.
“I see the disinfectant that knocks it out in a minute, one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning? As you see, it gets in the lungs, it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it would be interesting to check that.”
I wish I were making this up, but Trump actually said that crazy COVID-19 disinfectant cure thing during his briefing.
Just in case anyone needed a reminder: injecting disinfectant and/or UV light into a person won’t cure COVID-19.
Even for Trump, this is next level lunacy. It also definitely doesn’t help curb the worrying spread of COVID-19 misinformation and pseudoscience that’s going around right now.
One has to wonder if Trump is just trying to hurt people at this point because knowing what we do about the cult his supporters, there’s about a 95 percent guarantee some idiot will inject disinfectant into themselves and cause a lot more stress to already-overworked medical care professionals.
So what’s the moral of this latest episode of Trump shenanigans? Well it is – and has been ever since he became president – to never listen to a word he says, especially when it comes to advice, plans, and cures for COVID-19. Go listen to Jacinda Ardern instead, she’s the type of world leader we need right now.
