Trump Comparing Himself To Thanos In 'Endgame' Is Several Levels Of Epic Fail

The comparison is not as flattering as he thinks it is.

Donald Trump has committed enough self-owns during his presidency that future historians will be stumped as to how someone as incompetent as him could be U.S. president. Now he’s added a new gem to his personal hall of shame after he decided to compare himself to Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.

Speaking of mocking Trump…

After House Democrats pulled the curtain back on two articles of impeachment that they’ll slap Trump with, the Twitter account for the U.S. Cheeto-in-Chief’s reelection campaign responded with a head-scratching meme where Combover Caligula’s head is superimposed onto Thanos’ body during the climatic body at the end of Endgame and stating that “President Trump’s re-election is inevitable.”

If there was a stand out example of the quote “this is why we can’t have nice things,” this stupid Trump/Thanos meme is it.

Dumb meme aside, it also just makes no sense because Trump and Thanos are nothing alike at all:

  • Thanos answers to no one while Trump is a Putin stooge.
  • Thanos has YUGE hands while Trump has tiny sausages for fingers.
  • Thanos is at least slightly empathetic while Trump has the emotional range of a rock.
  • Thanos’ plan to wipe out half the universe is bad, but at least he isn’t clearing all this land to build ugly hotels.
  • Thanos is all-powerful while Trump struggles to walk up stairs.

Beyond the personal comparisons, the meme isn’t even all that flattering to Trump in any sense of the word because:

  • Thanos was clearly the bad guy.
  • Thanos lost. Bigly.
  • Thanos realises he’s been outsmarted due to his arrogance and dies a mere two minutes after this scene the Trump campaign memed.

But hey, we did learn something important here about the Trump campaign: it’s pretty clear no one working on it has ever watched Avengers: Endgame which means they won’t get this follow-up reference:

Having said that, Trump and Endgame Thanos do share some common traits though none of them are anything to brag about:

  • Both surround themselves with yes-men with no spines.
  • Both have genocidal tendencies.
  • Both have two daughters, one of whom he has an unhealthy obsession with while the other is completely ignored.

While the internet had a field day telling the Trump campaign how dump their meme is, Thanos creator Jim Starlin wasn’t too happy seeing his beloved creation be used in such a disgraceful manner. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Starlin says:

“After my initial feeling of being violated, seeing that pompous fool using my creation to stroke his infantile ego, it finally struck me that the leader of my country and the free world actually enjoys comparing himself to a mass murderer.

“How sick is that? These are sad and strange times we are going through. Fortunately all things, even national nightmares, eventually come to an end.”

Now that I think about it, Trump really is like Thanos… if the Mad Titan were orange and utterly useless on so many levels. And hey, while Trump won’t be dusted like Thanos, he’ll have to face the humiliating scrutiny of an impeachment trial and that’s better than the ending we got in Endgame.
