The Signs At The Scott Morrison Bushfire Protests Are More Impressive Than The Turnout

Nothing makes people more creative than when they're pissed off.

It goes without saying that Scott Morrison’s actions and his refusal to do anything about climate change during this horrendous bushfire season hasn’t been received well by people, and Australia has responded in spectacular fashion in the form of several massive peaceful protests across the country.

Organised by the Uni Students For Climate Justice in conjunction with Extinction Rebellion, climate change protests took place in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Canberra, Adelaide, Wollongong, Newcastle, Geelong, Port Macquarie and Byron Bay on Jan 10, and the turnout was simply incredible.

There were reported around 30,000 pissed off people crammed into the CBD of Sydney, and a similar number in Melbourne, to protest Scott Morrison and his government for their conduct during this bushfire season and the lack of action taken regarding climate change.

But even more impressive than the incredible turnout across the nation were the protest signs. And boy were they seriously creative in both the comedy and brutal truth fronts.

It seems like Aussies around the country have channeled all their frustration over having an unloved world leader, a country literally on fire, and a government that’s dragging its feet on climate change action into their signs and the results are just glorious. Just check out some of the gems:

Props to this person who rocked up to the climate change protest in Sydney because their look basically sums up what Australia is like right now:

But my personal favourite sign has to be this gem someone made (and subsequently shared onto Reddit by someone else):

Funny signs aside, it’s genuinely heartwarming to see so many Aussies banding together in the name of climate change. If you missed out on attending these protests, there will be another national protest in the coming weeks.

Here’s hoping the turnout will be even higher and the signs even funnier.
