Serena Williams Has No Patience For Your Meghan Markle Questions

Game, set and match.

If you haven’t heard yet, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are splitting the sheets with the Royal Family in some drama worthy of a Netflix show. It’s been such big news that everyone simply has had to talk about it, so much so that it even came up during Serena Williams’ press conference at the Australian Open.

For those who are unaware, the winner of every match at the Australian Open has to answer a bunch of questions from the press afterwards because them’s the rules. Since there wasn’t not really much to discuss about Serena Williams’ quick-fire 6-0 6-3 win over Anastasia Potapova, reporters decided to instead ask tennis’ GOAT about her good friend Meghan Markle and what exactly was going on with the Duchess of Sussex.

But Serena wasn’t having any of that sort of nonsense on her watch and immediately shut any nonsense about her friend down with a simple “I have absolutely no comments on anything with that.”

Just as a bonus cherry on top, Serena capped it off by telling the reporter: ” But good try. You tried. You did good.” Damn, you can almost picture Serena patting the reporter on the head as she said that.

To be fair to the reporter, they were probably sent there to ask questions about Meghan Markle because that’s what everyone wants to talk about right now. But credit to Serena for cooling denying everyone even just a whiff of Royal Family goss out of respect to her good friend and her wishes. She’s played the game (pun somewhat intended) to know how it all works.

So rather than talk about Meghan Markle, let’s focus on tennis instead and talk about how Serena Williams could equal Margaret Court’s all-time grand slam tally with a win at the Australian Open. That’s a far more interesting topic than whatever Royal Family that’s going on.
