Before Prince Harry met Meghan Markle, fell in love, had a baby and said see ya later to life as a Royal Family member, he dated British ‘it girl’ Cressida Bonas between 2012 and 2014.
Fast-forward to 2020 and Bonas is not only happily engaged to another Harry – Harry Wentworth-Stanley – but she’s pretty keen to leave the Megxit headlines to the tabloids.
In a recent interview with the Evening Standard, Bonas was asked if she could relate to the scrutiny Meghan Markle has faced since marrying Prince Harry.
“I wouldn’t take a position on that because it would be a headline,” she said. “Also out of respect. It feels like a long time ago.”
“When it comes up it’s strange because I’m in a different place.”
Speaking about her relationship with the Duke of Sussex, Bonas said, “no one likes to be labelled.”
“The hurdles for me are when I’m trying to do my work and people want to talk about him,” she said. “I work very hard and love what I do, but it is still something I have to contend with.”
Cressida Bonas and Prince Harry have always maintained a friendly relationship and she even attended his wedding to Meghan Markle in 2018. According to the Evening Standard, he will also be attending her upcoming nuptials.
Considering how many ‘royal sources’ appear to be leaking information about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to step down from their royal duties to the media, it’s refreshing to see an ex keeping it so raw and real.
Sadly, it sounds like wherever Cressida Bonas goes, her past relationship with Prince Harry – and questions about – follow. Hopefully 2020 is the year we start letting people move on and do away with the labels.
