Justin Trudeau Is In Lockdown, But Isn't The Only Pollie On Corona-Watch

His wife came back from the UK with "mild flu-like symptoms."

Who had Justin Trudeau getting put under coronavirus quarantine on their 2020 bingo card? If you did, cross that one off because that’s the point we’ve reached. His wife, Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau, came back from the UK with “mild flu-like symptoms,” and they’re both quarantining themselves while they wait for the test results to come back.

He’s working from home and postponing meetings “out of an abundance of caution,” but he’s the first global leader to actually take this step. Justin Trudeau is not, however, the first world leader to be exposed to coronavirus.

American President Donald Trump has potentially been exposed through two different sources. The first is through a meeting he had with Fabio Wajngarten, the communications secretary to Brazilian President, Jair Bolsonaro. Five days after meeting with Trump, Wajngarten tested positive for coronavirus.

Side note, this means that Brazil’s President has also been exposed.

Trump could also have been exposed through one of his own party members. Republican Matt Gaetz wore a gas mask to congress to vote on a coronavirus related bill, in a move that most people saw as making fun of the disease. In a classic turn of events, Gaetz himself wound up exposed and had to go into quarantine, but before he did he took a flight on Air Force One from Orlando to Washington with Donald Trump.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson could also have been exposed, again from two different sources. First was the junior health minister, Nadine Dorries, who tested positive after going to a reception with Boris Johnson.

He also was almost certainly exposed after he openly admitted that he went to a hospital which was treating people with coronavirus, and shook hands with everyone. He knew that the hospital was treating coronavirus patients at the time.

As of right now, there is no news about our own leader, Scott Morrison, being exposed to coronavirus.

Only one global leader has actually tested positive to coronavirus so far, and that’s everybody’s favourite dude, Tom Hanks. Sure, not a politician, but I’m calling him a global leader anyway because quite frankly he should be the ruler of the world.
