This may be a first for us, but we’re officially going to recommend you go and visit www.paulinehanson.com.au – we know, crazy.
It looks like a tech-savvy person (most likely Gen Z/Millenial) has snagged a domain name once linked to the one and only (thank god) One Nation politician Pauline Hanson and is using it to redirect visitors to the official Refugee Council of Australia site.
Legendary Instagram lords Brown Cardigan pointed out that an unnamed Slack user appeared to take responsibility for the world’s best stitch up.
They alleged that ownership of the URL had lapsed, meaning that it was free for anyone to take over.
“Noticed the pauline hanson dot com dot au domain had expired overnight…” they announced.
“Grabbed it and did a redirect… Check it out when you have a second.”
As of Friday morning, the page channels traffic to one of Australia’s pre-eminent organisations focused on the rights of refugees.
It’s probably the best prank of all time since Hanson has spent her political career calling for immigration bans and focusing on policy that benefits White Australians.
And it gets better.
If Hanson wants her domain back she’ll have to fork out for it since the process can cost up to $4,500.
For now, let’s just enjoy the thought of Hanson at home hitting the refresh button ad nauseam.
