Turns Out This 'Riverdale' Star Is Also An Undercover Sex Trafficking Agent

"If good people don't know about it, it will keep happening."

Riverdale fans, prepare to be well and truly shook, because it turns out that actress Marisol Nichols, who plays Hermione Lodge on the show, has also been secretly working as an undercover agent in the fight against sex trafficking.

A recent Marie Claire feature, written by Erika Hayasaki, detailed Nichols secret side gig and revealed the actress has “participated in a half dozen child-sex stings around the world over the last five years, always as a volunteer.”

According to Hayasaki, Nichols has been working alongside the FBI, Operation Underground Railroad and local law enforcement to act as “bait” for domestic and international sting operations.

“If good people don’t know about it, it will keep happening, because good people are the only ones who will do anything about it,” she told Hayasaki.

Nichols said her work on shows like CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Cold Case gave her “mad respect for law enforcement and detectives. “It sparked my interest in the trafficking world, realising and really being on the other side of the underbelly of society.”

It’s not the Riverdale star’s first experience in the fight against sex trafficking. In 2014, Nichols launched her nonprofit Foundation for a Slavery Free World and speaks publicly about how predators target children online and how parents can monitor their kids’ activity on social media.

Deadline reports that Marisol Nichols’ story as a Hollywood vigilante is even being adapted into a TV series, which is in the early stages of development by Sony Pictures Television.

Kudos to Marisol Nichols for using her public platform and acting talent to fight for the freedom of children.
