We all do things when we’re bored, especially since we’re all in self-isolation right now. But Troye Sivan got so bored that he decided to share with everyone an absolutely wild Greta Thunberg catfish story that deserves its own Netflix series.

Sharing a five-minute video to Instagram, Troye Sivan’s crazy story kicks off with when his manager, Dani, called him about a wild opportunity involving Greta Thunberg.
Apparently Greta’s dad had called Dani up and was hoping to get Troye onboard a project called “Stars Save The Earth” that Greta wanted to launch.
Weird project name aside (which Troye points out, not knowing at the time that it will become important), when Greta Thunberg says she’s a fan and wants to work with you, you bet your arse you’ll say yes, which is exactly what Troye did.
After getting sent Greta’s number, Troye messaged her and was waiting to hear back from the young activist. But before he got a reply, Dani called Troye up and says there’s something suss going on after she had a chat to Greta’s dad.
Apparently Dani noticed how bad Greta’s dad’s English was, but Dani’s Swedish boyfriend said that’s not correct as Greta’s Dad speaks English just fine.
After a bit of YouTubing, Dani realised they’d been played and told Troye that he’d been catfished by a Greta Thunberg imposter. After “cry-laughing” at how wild this whole thing was and acknowledging how he let his “ego” run wild, Troye had one final twist to the story.
You see, the pranksters were none other than the ones who prank called other famous people like Bernie Sanders (unsuccessfully) and Prince Harry (very successfully).
That was just a quick summary on the story, but the entire thing is crazier when Troye tells it himself:
“Troye Sivan,” “Greta Thunberg,” and “catfish” are three words I never expected to ever use in the same sentence and yet here we are. What a time we’re living in right now. Someone get Netflix on the phone now because Troye Sivan may have something to follow up the craziness that was Tiger King.
