Johnny Knoxville has made a living doing incredibly dumb things, whether it’s some ridiculous stunt for Jackass or sunbathing his butthole because he felt like it. You’d have to be born with some serious courage to do some of the stuff Johnny has done, but it turns out that bravery isn’t the only thing that’s hardwired into the Knoxville family gene pool as it turns out they’re also into Game Of Thrones levels of inbreeding. Yeah.

During a chat with Conan O’Brien, Johnny Knoxville revealed that he hired a genealogist to help trace his family tree and it was discovered that his family was super-duper into the whole incest thing and the man himself was in fact the product of inbreeding.
Apparently the genealogist told Knoxville that “no one ever goes into” the “rural mountain regions” community he and his family is from, and “no one ever leaves the community” either so it’s “not uncommon that there’s inbreeding in those communities.”
When asked if there was inbreeding within his own branch of the Knoxville family, Johnny was told there was “a significant amount.”
But credit to Johnny for taking all this information in good humour because rather than curse his Knoxville ancestors for being, well, sibling-lusting jackasses, he simply laughed it off and was “so happy” because it was so damn funny.
Now Johnny didn’t reveal specifically how much a “significant amount” of inbreeding was in his case – could be between direct siblings or seventh cousins, we don’t know – but one has to imagine the Knoxville gene pool is pretty damn shallow. How else can you explain someone intentionally paper cutting his scrotum, or the many – many – injuries he’s sustained over the years in the name of entertainment.
Hats off to Johnny Knoxville to not letting his ancestry hold him back in any way and for somehow turning his inner inbred jackass into a successful career in Jackass. Family gatherings must be a riot in the Knoxville household.
