It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

There's One Blockbuster Left On Earth, And You Can Stay There For Less Than $6

BRB, dusting off my Blu-Ray.

In news that’ll transport you back to the early ‘00s, Blockbuster is relevant again. No, they haven’t gone back in time and changed their business model, preventing them from an inevitable decline, but this news is equally is exciting.

On the subject of Hollywood, we spoke about some departure confessions on this episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

Blockbuster has gone from being a dying, aging business to everyone’s most wanted Airbnb. That’s right, after a Tweet from Blockbuster that came out early this morning, saying “Just checking in,” the video-rental company has announced that they have converted their last store into an Airbnb. How’s that for an upgrade, your move Netflix.

But, the best part about this Airbnb listing is the price. Would you look at this? It’s in Australian dollars by the way.

The video-rental-shop / travel-stay is located in Bend, Oregon, United States and flexes quite the aesthetic. The stay features free parking on premises, air conditioning, TV, heating, essentials, breakfast, smoke alarm, a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit. The listing, however, does not feature a kitchen or a washing machine, so if that’s a must for you, we’re very sorry.

Looking at the photos, this unique stay looks ideal for people wanting to escape back to the ‘90s. It’s almost as if the curator wanted to encapsulate the essence of the ‘90s with the decorations as they show off a clip-art inspired bedspread, vintage snacks and a VHS player. Not sure if anyone is going to want to watch a movie in 340p quality, but go off.

According to the listing, “As the last standing location in the world, our BLOCKBUSTER store is an ode to movie magic, simpler times and the sense of community that could once be found in BLOCKBUSTER locations around the world. Over the past few months, we’ve been missing the regular visits from friends, neighbours and tourists from around the world. So, we’re opening our store to three quarantine pods of Deschutes County guests for a socially-distanced movie night, just like those of decades past!”

Now, we think we speak on behalf of everyone in Australia when we ask, can we get a Video Ezy one? Please?
