That YouTuber Who 'Rehomed' Her Son Took Her Sweet Time To Apologise

It's only taken her a month.

Remember that whole saga involving that YouTuber who copped a heap of flak for rehoming her adopted son, Huxley, after featuring him in a heap of videos? Well after several weeks of radio silence – and several dropped partnerships later – Myka Stauffer has finally shared an update on the whole adopted son saga in the form of an apology, which was written in the Notes app like most celebrity apologies no less.

Speaking of the Notes app, the GOAT team talk about it on ‘It’s Been A Big Day For…’ below:

In her first update since she revealed to the world that she rehomed her adopted son, Myka Stauffer shared a lengthy apology to Instagram. Kicking off with the classic “I apologised for [insert offense],” the YouTuber states how she takes “full responsibility” for all the “hurt” she caused when she revealed how she rehomed her adopted son after it became too tough to raise him.

Addressing the backlash, Stauffer admits that she was “naive” and not “fully equipped or prepared” when she started the adoption process for Huxley. While she says she regrets her lack of preparedness, the YouTuber writes she “can’t say I wish this never happened” as Huxley “is here and getting all of the help he needs” and is supposedly “happier in his new home.”

Good to know. Anyway, check out her entire apology here:

Interestingly, Stauffer says she and her husband “did not adopt a child to gain wealth” and how “every penny and much more went back into his care.”

What makes this apology especially grating is not only does Stauffer apologise for the impact this whole saga has had on her image rather than to Huxley, she waited well over a month to say anything. Talk about taking her sweet time. Pretty certain taking down all the videos and Instagram posts that feature Huxley doesn’t take a month.

Unsurprisingly, the YouTuber’s update wasn’t exactly met with the best response. One just needs to look up “Myka Stauffer” on Twitter to see how poorly her dodgy apology has been received.

Speaking of dodgy influencer behaviour, the GOAT team talk about the COVID-19 anti-vaxxers on ‘It’s Been A Big Day For…’ below:

At this point, what more can we say about this sorry saga that hasn’t already been said? Even if Myka Stauffer gave the greatest apology in the history of influencer/YouTuber apologies it still wouldn’t be enough to make people forgive her for the whole rehoming her adopted son thing.

We should be used to influencers doing stupid things and subsequently issuing out half-arsed apologies. But as this sad Myka Stauffer saga shows, we still haven’t hit the bottom yet.
