No One's Coronavirus Behaviour Is More Cringeworthy Than These Celebs

'Imagine' thinking this is a good idea.

We get it celebs, it’s hard to know how to respond to the coronavirus pandemic. With most of the world self-isolating and social distancing, celebrities aren’t exactly sure what to do. Some are doing the right thing and donating money to essential causes, but, unfortunately, some are not, and it’s making for some super cringeworthy content.

While we’re on the subject of COVID-19, make sure you check out this episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

So, without further ado, let’s dive deep into some incredibly cringe-worthy behaviour, led by celebrities, during the coronavirus pandemic.

‘Imagine’ Thinking This Is Helpful

Just last week, Gal Gadot shared a video of herself and a whole bunch of other celebs singing John Lenon’s ‘Imagine’ in the name of coronavirus. Why? Well… um, yeah… we’re not sure. While Gadot’s proclaimed intentions were to unite the world, stating “we are in this together, we will get through it together. Let’s imagine together. Sing with us,” the project pretty much backfired. Many people took the piss out of it online, probably because most of us are worried about our employment, our health, our safety and don’t have the luxury of singing all our problems away. Suffice to say, this was absolutely cringe-worthy, although, props to John Mayer for finding the humour in it

Vanessa Hudgens Please Stop Talking

I actually feel quite bad for Vanessa Hudgens, because it was clearly just a moment of speaking before you’ve actually thought about what you’re saying. Last week the High School Musical star took to an Instagram Live to tell people they should get COVID-19. Yeah…Expectedly, the Internet pretty much called her out for her comments and an apology very quickly shot up! Let this be a lesson for all of you about to hit post without having proof-read what you’ve said.

How Many Retweets For This Shirt?

We all know and love Rita Ora, but I’m not quite on board with her latest initiative. First and foremost, we do have to hand it to her for having her heart in the right place, but the execution of this project was just cringe. Last week, Rita Ora launched very her own collaboration with the World Health Organisation and the United Nations Foundation. The collaboration existed in the form of COVID-19 inspired merchandise. While the proceeds went to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, which is a great cause, the merch caused a stirrup online, with many people questioning why she didn’t just donate money herself. Also, Twitter users commented on how the shirts would just become “landfill” anyway.

Taylor Swift & Kim Kardashian’s Cold, Cold, Beef

Kanye West and Taylor Swift have been feuding for over a decade now and for some reason, that feud was reignited this week. After full footage of Kanye’s infamous phone call with Taylor Swift appeared online, Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian unnecessarily brought back their feud. In an Instagram Story, Taylor Swift said, “Instead of answering those who are asking how I feel about the video footage that was leaked, proving that I was telling the truth the whole time about *that call* (you know, the one that was illegally recorded, that somebody edited and manipulated in order to frame me and put me, my family and fans through hell for 4 years)… Swipe up to see what really matters”, linking to WHO and Feeding America, and calling on followers to donate during the COVID-19 pandemic. What i’m wondering is, why did she have to use the feud to do good? It doesn’t make any sense to me. At least now, she’s giving money to her fans who have been impacted by COVID-19.

But we must say, while celebs have been quite cringe during the coronavirus pandemic, there are some celebs who are doing quite good! Rihanna’s foundation, Clara Lionel Foundation, donated $5 million USD to a variety of charities, including the World Health Organisation. Lil Nas X and Megan Thee Stallion both pledged to send money to their followers who had been financially affected by Coronavirus. Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively donated $1 million USD to food banks. Shawn Mendes donated $175,000 to SickKids Hospital in Toronto. Kylie Jenner donated $1million USD to COVID-19 efforts and the list goes on. At the end of the day, not all celebs are cringe, let’s just hope we see more of the positive behaviour in the next few weeks.
