Never Forget: When Angelina Jolie Made Out With Her Brother At The Oscars

Shines an entirely new light on the phrase "brotherly love".

From going through a hectic Hollywood childhood to nearly being used as bait to catch Joseph Kony, it goes without saying that Oscar-winner Angelina Jolie has had a hell of an interesting life.

With the Oscars coming up, perhaps this is the best time to take a trip down memory lane and remember the infamous 2000 Oscars ceremony when Angelina Jolie and her biological brother James went all Jamie and Cersei Lannister on the red carpet.

Angelina was one of the front-runners for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2000 and when she won the statuette, she caught everyone’s attention by saying “I’m so in love with my brother right now” in her speech.

Okay, no biggie, everyone gets emotional when they win their first Oscar and they end up saying weird things. Just look at Sally Field.

Things got a little weirder at the Vanity Fair Oscar party after Angelina’s big win because it was there she decided to make out with James and the cameras had a field day with their, uh, moment.

You’d think folks would be ready for it after Angelina and James did the exact same thing at the 2000 Golden Globes just weeks before the Oscars but I guess not.

Now before we all get too judgy and pitchforky over this admittedly odd display of sibling affection at the Oscars between Angelina Jolie and her biological brother, a bit of context is necessary.

Firstly, there was no Lannister-esque incest between Angelina and James (as far as we know) so don’t believe any rumours. Secondly, Angelina explained (via Rolling Stone) that she and her brother relied on each other for emotional support during their parents’ divorce, and it’s a shame that people turned their big smooch into a “circus.”

Okay, fair enough. Her father is a complete nutjob who is on the Trump train for inexplicable reason so it sort of makes sense that Angelina and James would turn to each other for support.

I’m not gonna lie, Angelina Jolie kissing her brother like that weirds me out a little bit but at the same time, it’s pretty sweet that they became each other’s emotional support during tough times. We’re likely not going to see the pair together at the 2020 Oscars but hey, we’ll always have the 2000 Oscars burned into our brains.
