It’s no secret that Angelina Jolie went through quite a wild period early on in her life. But amidst the brother-kissing moments and the excessive displays of PDA with ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton, arguably the wildest story from Angelina Jolie’s early life has to be the time she hired a hitman to kill her as part of a suicide attempt while suffering from a bout of depression.

Chatting to IMDB (via The Herald Scotland) back in 2001, Angelina Jolie revealed that she was struggling with depression during a “rather bleak” time in her early life and had even considered suicide.
But the wildest twist in this Angelina Jolie story is that rather than do it herself, she opted to hire a hitman to kill her because it would’ve made it an easier burden for her family to handle.
”With suicide comes all the guilt of people around you thinking they could have done something. With somebody being murdered, nobody takes some kind of guilty responsibility.”
She ended up finding a hitman, but then we get a final plot twist that’ll tug on your heartstrings.
After getting in contact with a hitman, Angelina Jolie says they “very sweetly” spoke to her and calmly talked her out of this cooked murder/suicide scheme by convincing her to wait a month first. This turned out to be a huge move that changed the course of Angelina’s life because “things changed” over that month and she was “surviving again.”
Who would’ve thought a hitman would be so empathetic to a young woman offering them money for a simple job? Or maybe the hitman thought that killing a famous celebrity would draw way too much attention their way and opted out.
There are two conclusions to draw from this wild story: this incident probably explains why Angelina Jolie ended up playing some pretty complex assassins who are more than just mindless killers, and she is clearly a frightening person who knows “people” given how she is somehow able to get paid killers on call to do her bidding.
