Miley Cyrus Reveals How Sexuality Affected Her Relationship With God

Alexa, play 'Unholy' by Miley Cyrus.

Honestly, we have no choice but to stan Miley Cyrus.

As a way of keeping herself busy during this period of self-isolation and social distancing, Miley Cyrus has started her very own Instagram Live series called, Bright Minded: Live with Miley. We’re up to our 5th episode now, which saw the singer bring on Hailey Bieber for a chat. They spoke about everything from makeup tips to religion, with the latter sparking a conversation about why Cyrus left the church.

If you love Miley Cyrus, we spoke about her on this episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

As Hailey Biber said, “I found a church community that works for me, where I feel supported and loved and accepted,” Miley Cyrus discussed her past relationship with God and why you can no longer spot her at church. “I was raised going to church, as a believer, and that was a really important part of my life, and I kind of fell of, that path a little bit because I think I had a hard time finding a relationship with God that worked for me, as an adult…”

Miley Cyrus then opened up about why she left the church at a young age, saying: “I was also brought up in a church, in Tennessee, at a time, you know in the ‘90s, so it was a less accepting time… I had some gay friends in school, that, the reason why I left my church is that they weren’t being accepted. They were being sent to conversion therapies, I had a really hard time with that and I had a hard time with me finding my sexuality too.”

Miley Cyrus came out as pansexual and gender-fluid in 2015. When asked about her pansexuality, Miley Cyrus told Vanity Fair, “What I preach is: People fall in love with people, not gender, not looks, not whatever. What I’m in love with exists on almost a spiritual level. It has nothing to do with sexuality.” Additionally, aside from her placement within the LGBTQIA+ community, Miley Cyrus has always been somewhat of an icon for the gays. In fact, in the same Livestream, she brought on Rupaul’s Drag Race alumni, Trixie Mattel and Milk.

However, this wasn’t the first time Miley Cyrus sexuality has come up in her Livestream Series. On episode two, Miley Cyrus brought another Disney Channel child-star, Demi Lovato, where the two reminisced on the old days. After Demi Lovato said, “I had a f**king gap in my tooth, and we still connected then because we just saw something in each other,” Miley Cyrus replied, “Or maybe we were just gay as f**k…” You can check out the clip where they kind of admit to having a romantic past, here:

After Miley Cyrus’ comments, Hailey Bieber responded by saying, “I believe that Jesus is about loving people, no matter where they are at in life… I’ve always had a hard time too with church making people feel excluded and not accepted and like, they can’t be a part of it because of what they believe in or who they love.”

We have no choice but to stan a queen who backs the LGBTQIA+ community!
