Leonardo DiCaprio Saves Man Who Fell Overboard A Cruise Ship Without The Help Of A Door

He never let go...

Titanic star Leonardo DiCaprio has proven he’s basically Jack Dawson IRL after he saved a man who fell overboard a cruise ship in the Caribbean recently.

The Sun reports Leo and his girlfriend Camila Marrone were with a bunch of friends on a boat near St Barts on December 30 when they were alerted that a drunk crew member had fallen overboard.

DiCaprio’s boat was the only one in the area that responded to the call out to help find the man. And guess what? He never let go… er, of hope and finally found the man, who had been treading water for 11 hours.

A source told the publication, “Leonardo played a blinding role in his own real-life Hollywood movie. He saved the life of a man overboard who incredibly had survived by treading water for 11 hours. Leonardo’s boat was the only vessel looking for him.

“The captain put the man’s chances of survival at one in a billion — like winning the lottery twice.”

He added, “The ‘man overboard’ was minutes from drowning when he was found. He had been treading water and still managed to flail his hands as Leonardo came near. It was not long before daylight disappeared, and there was a giant rainstorm closing in. The man was doomed.”

Unsurprisingly, the man thought “he was dreaming” after realising his rescuer was one of the world’s most famous faces.

When Leo and his crew found him, they gave him food and drink and alerted the coastguard who gave him medical attention.

Apparently, DiCaprio didn’t want the press to find out about it, but the source leaked the story anyway and now we all know. Oops.

And just when we thought the actor couldn’t get any more heroic, THR reports DiCaprio’s environmental organisation Earth Alliance will be donating $3 million to Aussie Ark, Bush Heritage and Wires Wildlife Rescue after seeing the devastating caused by fires across Australia.
