Jim Carrey Slammed For Implying Margot Robbie's Success Is Thanks To Her Looks

"Margot Robbie should win an Oscar for pretending to like Jim Carrey."

Fans are slamming Jim Carrey, calling him “rude” and “creepy” after the actor appeared on The Graham Norton Show with Margot Robbie and insinuated her successful career was down to her good looks.

The actor was on the talk show to promote Sonic the Hedgehog, but the interview took a turn when the actor said he’d never been to Australia and gushed over Robbie, saying, “It’s incredible that you’ve got as far as you have with your obvious physical disadvantages.

“It’s unbelievable, it’s really something. That’s pure talent right there!”

The actress laughed the joke off, but fans have taken to social media to slam Carrey’s comment – after all, she is an Oscar nominee.

One Twitter user wrote, “Did anyone else think @JimCarrey comment about @MargotRobbie on the @grahnort show was not okay. She’s an amazing actress and now a successful producer, had it been a male actor in her seat I doubt @JimCarrey would have commented on their ‘obvious physical disadvantages’.”

Another added, “Jim [Carrey] is difficult to watch. Not keen on his insinuation about Margot Robbie’s looks being her talent. She is a bloody Oscar nominee!”

One fan who was in the audience of the talk show, revealed that part of Carrey’s comments had been cut out by the BBC, “I was in the audience last night, it wasn’t just that comment that pissed her off. The part he said he has never been to Australia he cracked another joke asking her whether she’s Aboriginal! She was taken aback by that [as well] but BBC cut that part out.”

Some fans argued it was simply a joke, one wrote, “Jim Carrey was genuinely commending Margot Robbie – the comment about her making it despite obvious physical disadvantages was a secondary afterthought.

“If he was scorning anyone, it was Hollywood, of whom Jim is famously critical – not Margot, whom he was clearly complimenting.”
