Jake Paul is no stranger to controversy. For some essential context, the contentious YouTuber went viral in the past few weeks for hosting parties and deliberately breaking COVID-19 social distancing rules. But, perhaps even bigger than that, was Jake Paul’s stint with the FBI when it was reported that his house was raided and plenty of guns were confiscated.
Now it would seem that Jake Paul is trying to set the record straight in a YouTube video which addresses the incident, but since the video has been deleted, we’re unsure what his official stance on the matter is. But, thanks to the brilliance of screen-records we know what he initially said.
“Just to clarify things and set the record straight, the FBI raid is entirely related to the Arizona looting situation that happened,” Jake Paul said in the video. “It’s an investigation. There are rumours about it having to do with so many other things that have nothing to do with me or my character and the sh*t that people are making up is absolutely absurd.”
Jake Paul continued, “That being said, when I become aware of someone around me who is doing malicious things they are immediately cut out of my life. I don’t put up with bulls**t, I don’t surround myself with bad people. If someone does something bad, they will be removed from my life.”
Perhaps because an investigation is still underway, Jake Paul realised it wasn’t the wisest decision to make a public comment on the matter and so he deleted the video. But, at this point, we can only speculate. Regardless, Jake Paul also said that it is his “goal right now” to “continue to focus on (his) life, boxing and music.” “Thank you to all the fans who have been sticking by my side through all of these crazy times,” he said.
According to Entertainment Tonight, a spokesperson for the FBI did confirm that they executed a search warrant for Jake Paul’s Calabasas mansion, though any further information is sealed.
“The FBI is executing a federal search warrant at a residence in Calabasas in connection with an ongoing investigation,” the statement read. “The affidavit in support of the search warrant has been sealed by a judge and I am, therefore, prohibited from commenting as to the nature of the investigation. No arrests are planned.”
In June this year, the New York Times reported that Jake Paul was charged with misdemeanour trespassing when he was filmed looting amidst the Black Lives Matter protests.
