It Took BLM Protests For Terry Crews To Finally Apologise To Gabrielle Union

Timing is everything apparently.

Gabrielle Union getting fired from American’s Got Talent due to racism was pretty unsavoury news when it broke, and it was made even more unpleasant when her AGT colleague Terry Crews didn’t even stand up for her. Now with Gabrielle suing AGT due to discrimination and Black Lives Matter protest erupting all over America, it seems like Terry Crews has finally found it within himself to (belatedly) apologise to Union (again).

The GOAT team talk about Black Lives Matter and how you can help on ‘It’s Been A Big Day For…’ below:

With Black Lives Matter protests occurring in every state of America following the death of George Floyd, it appears to have motivated Terry Crews to not only speak out against racism and police brutality but to also further apologise to Gabrielle Union for not having her back during the whole America’s Got Talent debacle.

Taking to Twitter, Terry addresses the issue of the white privilege that’s present in society before seguing to how he now realises how being a man is also a privileged position to be, especially when it comes to relationships with Black women.

He then apologises to Gabrielle again as a way to “make further amends with Black women” and to be better moving forward.

It’s certainly a better apology than the one he gave previously where he responded following a volley of backlash and barely mentioned Gabrielle directly. Still, one has to again wonder why it took something like George Floyd’s death, the subsequent Black Lives Matters protests, and new developments in the Gabrielle Union/AGT controversy for Terry Crews to speak up again.

But hey, at this point, we can’t fault Terry for at least speaking out rather than staying silent and doing what he can during these tough times. Not only is he publicly championing for Black causes, he’s also made some sizable donations (via Uproxx) with his Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-stars to the National Bail Fund.

We need to be supportive right now given what’s going on around the world right now and Terry Crews apologising to Gabrielle Union, belated or not, is nothing but a good thing.
