Iconic Oscars Red Carpet Looks That Deserve A Repeat

Take us back.

The 92nd Academy Awards are upon us, which means plenty of chit chat around those who win big, those who are rudely snubbed, but most importantly – at least to me – is the Oscars red carpet, where all the juicy stuff goes down.

With over 90 years of history, there have been plenty of red carpet winners and grinners at the Oscars. Here are some of the most iconic looks that honestly deserve a repeat:

1972: Dionne Warwick

Dionne Warwick arriving at the Oscars red carpet in 1972 wearing a double-breasted satin print suit and chuffing a dart is such a mood.

Is there anything more glamorous than Farrah Fawcett in a slinky chain mail gown on the Oscars red carpet? Nope. Would rock this entire look today, tomorrow, and beyond.

1997: Courtney Love

In 1997, Courtney Love put her iconic grungy look on ice and turned up to the Oscars looking like a demure queen in white silk. This look would 100% work on a red carpet today – even the chic bob is giving me major 2020 energy.

Speaking of the Oscars, the nominations at year’s Golden Globes were controversial to say the least. Listen to the GOAT team break it all down on It’s Been A Big Day For...below:

2004: Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron can do no wrong. The woman has been slaying the red carpet for years now and the 2004 Oscars red carpet was no exception. I live for Theron in this beaded beige frock and old Hollywood waves. It’s classic, it’s elegant and it’s the perfect example of ‘less is more.’

2006: Michelle Williams

There are few people in this world that can pull off canary yellow, but Michelle Williams is one of the lucky souls who most definitely can. The actress attended the 2006 with her late husband Heath Ledger looking utterly divine in this bold number, made even more gorgeous by her handsome date.

2014: Lupita Nyong’o

Speaking of classic design, Lupita Nyong’o absolutely nailed the brief when she wore this baby blue Prada gown on the 2014 Oscars red carpet. That night she won the best supporting actress Oscar for her role in 12 Years A Slave, what a gal.

2019: Lady Gaga

I know what you’re thinking – this epic Oscars red carpet look from Lady Gaga was only a year ago, it doesn’t need repeating!? But just look at it. How else could she achieve the ‘seated and proudly holding an award’ look without a gorgeous billowing frock like this.
