Glee star Naya Rivera has reportedly gone missing after her four-year-old son was found alone on a rented boat in Lake Piru in Ventura County.
According to CBSN Los Angeles, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department state that Naya Rivera rented a boat at about 1pm local time on July 9 and her son was found on the boat by himself by another boater about three hours later with the Glee star nowhere in sight.
KTLA reports that deputies received a call about a Rivera’s son being found alone at around 6pm local time, after which a search and rescue dive team searched the lake but Naya was unable to be located. Captain Eric Buschow, a spokesman for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, states that the actress is presumed drowned.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office tweeted that they were searching for a possible drowning victim and later confirmed the Glee actress’ identity. After hours of searching with no results, it is reported that authorities will resume the search the following day.
It is reported that Rivera’s son was found unharmed, wearing a lifejacket, and told investigators that he and his mother were swimming but she never returned to the boat.
The Glee actress was most recently active on Twitter, where she shared a photo of herself and her four-year-old son on July 8, along with the caption ‘just the two of us.”
At the time of writing, it is not confirmed how Rivera’s son ended up alone or the exact circumstances that led to her disappearance.
