After keeping on the low down for months, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have finally welcomed their baby girl into the world last week. According to reports, this celebrity couple had their baby on Wednesday, July 22, in Los Angeles, California. Congrats! Hear all about it below:
According to TMZ, the newest addition to the Jonas family is named Willa. Now, while this name does have its origins in Old German culture (in that it translates to “will-helmet” or “resolute protection”), we think there’s something else Game of Thrones-related going on here.
As you know, Sophie Turner was introduced to the world through her role in Game of Thrones, where she played Sansa Stark, the oldest daughter of her family and the true Queen in the North (okay, pop off). And we have a gut feeling that the name ‘Willa’ is a sneaky reference to this fantasy world of Westeros.
If you can’t remember, Willa is a actually a character who appears on the HBO show. Sure, she wasn’t the most memorable side character, so we’ll allow it if you can’t remember who she was. Having said that, Willa was introduced on the eighth season of Game of Thrones as a servant in the Starks’ ancestral seat at Winterfell. Also, she was the one who comforted Tormund the Wildling before the epic Battle of Winterfell. Okay, now we’re jogging your memory.
Ultimately, we reckon Willa is a cute name and we love the idea of referencing moments in your past to embrace the future. But now, we’re just waiting for Willa to get a sibling called ‘Camp Rock Jonas’ or ‘What A Man Gotta Do Jonas.’ Both sound like good options to us.
The birth of their first child together comes after Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner got married twice last year. They first got married in a Las Vegas wedding chapel, then again in a star-studded ceremony in Paris. Ah, how the other half live.
