According to multiple reports, actor Dennis Quaid found out there was a cat living in a Virginia shelter also named Dennis Quaid and he couldn’t resist adopting it.
“It was really off the wall, but I just couldn’t resist. I had to,” Quaid (the man) told local news channel WSLS 10. “I’m out to save all the Dennis Quaids of the world.”
But wait, it just gets more wholesome.
Apparently, Quaid co-hosts a podcast called The Pet Show and had to convince staff at the Lynchburg Humane Society shelter that they weren’t trolls, and the real Dennis Quaid was enquiring about his feline counterpart.
“I was like there is no way this is real, like, someone is pranking us,” shelter manager Danielle Ulmer said.
Perhaps the sweetest part of this whole story is the description of Dennis Quaid, the cat. Six-year-old Quaid reportedly “waited for a family for over a year,” has a “big heart” and “likes to curl up on the couch.”
